The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily accounting operations with exposure in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) related to freight forwarding, trucking, and warehousing activities. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely billing and collections, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise end-to-end AP and AR processes related to logistics operations (freight charges, trucking fees, port charges, warehouse costs)
- Review and approve supplier invoices, disbursements, and employee reimbursements
- Ensure accurate and timely billing to clients, including freight, storage, demurrage, and other logistics-related charges
- Monitor collections, aging reports, and customer credit limits
- Coordinate with Operations and Sales teams to validate charges, contracts, and rate agreements
- Prepare and review month-end and year-end closing schedules
- Reconcile bank accounts, customer accounts, and vendor accounts
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies
- Assist during external and internal audits
- Lead, coach, and evaluate accounting staff
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
- At least 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation
- Proven hands-on exposure in both AP and AR
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience
- Strong understanding of logistics costing, billing, and revenue recognition
- Proficient in MS Excel
